The original name of San Carlos City was Nabingkalan still 1892. San Carlos City was sooner Nabingkalan , an arrabal of Hilub-ang ( Calatrava ) in the island of Buglas ( Negros ). Nabingkalan came from the princess Nabingka , who ruled the barrio during the early 17th century. 1856 the island of Negros was a politico-military province under Spain , divided into provinces West Negros under Iloilo and East Negros under Cebu. From about 1903 is Nabingkalan San Carlos and provinces are Negros Occidental and Negros Oriental. During the war, many sons of San Carlos volunteered to fight for Uncle Sam. The municipality of San Carlos was converted into the City of San Carlos on July 1. 1960.
