Around the island is it possible to go with car rented in the airport or in the city. Or one day with bus to Tautira and other day with bus to Teahupoo. The car costs about 70 euro for all day and for 200 km. It is dificult to rent a bicycle. The bus "le truck" costs from Papeete 73 km to Tautira or 76 km to Teahupoo maybe only 2 euro. The street around Tahiti has form of 8 , but on the top is the 8 not ready. There is a dead-end street in Tautira on north coast of Tahiti iti and dead-end street in Teahupoo on south coast of Tahiti iti. From Tautira to Teahupoo you can get only via Taravao. In the heart of little Tahiti iti there goes from Taravao another dead-end street to a view point , from where you can see the big Tahiti nui. The whole way around Tahiti and the 3 dead-end streets has 200 km and only a rented car will do it for you , no public bus , no normal organisated tour , but maybe a special expensive tour with driver only for you.
What is to see in Tahiti : Northeast coast. On the 5th km east of PPT is the tomb of king Pomare. On the 10th km east of PPT and some meters to the coast there is the lighthouse on Pointe Venus in Baie de Matavai , from where you can see the highest mountain of Tahiti - Mont Orohena 2241m. On 22nd km park the car and walk 5 minutes to the 3 waterfalls - Cascades Faarumai on the river Vaipuu. The highest from the three is the Cascade Vaimahuta. On the coast by 22nd km is also the Trou du Souffleur , where the surf in hole makes geyser. The nice silent friendly paradise village Tautira is on the dead-end of the nice street 73 km far from Papeete on the northeast coast of Tahiti iti.
Southwest coast : On the 5th km west of PPT is the airport Faaa. You can go there with bus and rent there a car , maybe only if you made yesterday reservation , expecting a sunny day. On the 10th km west of PPT is a Lagonarium , where big fishes and sharks are watching visitors in windows under water. The entrance is about 5 euro. On the 22nd km is the ancient temple Marae Arahurahu. On the 48th km in Mataiea starts a 10 km long way for jeeps , horses and hiker to Lac Vaihiria. It is 473 m high over the sea , 22 m deep and between 16 and 22 ha large. The jeep can cross over the hills the island and reach the north coast in Papenoo. From Mataiea to Papenoo is it over hills 35 km. You can get an organisated trip to Lac Vaihiria with jeep and so you will not get lost or stay in one of the river crossings and it can be 4x cheaper than to rent a jeep yourself. If you park on the coast in Mataeia a low car , you must 3 hours walk to the Lake the 10 km and also 3 hours back. On the 52nd km is museum Paul Gauguin with entrance 5 euro and also the Botanical Garden of Tahiti in Papeari , but the whole Tahiti is the best botanical garden , what you can ever see. Shows with music , songs and dances could be in hotels.
To island Moorea 17 km far go ferries - ships each hour. It costs about 7 euro. Some people fly the 17 km from Tahiti - Faaa to Moorea - Temae with airplane of Air Moorea. To Bora Bora 250 km go 5 ships weekly , it take 16 hours , costs about 15 euro and stops on Huahine , Raiatea , Tahaa and Bora Bora. Another boat from Bora Bora to nice Maupiti. Ferries timetable shedule horaires :   tahiti.com   There is no ship going around the whole island Tahiti 180 km on the sea. But maybe somebody in Tautira could take you with motor boat some kilometers in direction Teahupoo. From Tautira to Teahupoo are 30 km on the sea. From Tautira south you can 12 km walk and back. From Teahupoo east you can 9 km walk an back. On the rest 9 km there is no path for walk.

Kolem ostrova je mozno jeti autem pujcenym na letisti nebo ve meste. Nebo jeden den na Tautira autobusem a druhy den na Teahupoo autobusem. Auto stoji na den a na 200 km asi 70 euro. Je nesnadne vypujciti si jizdni kolo. Autobus stoji z Papeete 73 km na Tautira nebo 76 km na Teahupoo asi jen 2 euro. Cesta kolem Tahiti ma tvar 8 , ale ta osmicka neni na spicce dokoncena. Vede slepa cesta na Tautira a slepa cesta na Teahupoo na Tahiti iti. Do prostred maleho Tahiti iti vede od Taravao slepa cesta k vyhledovemu mistu , odkud je videt velke Tahiti nui. Cela cesta kolem Tahiti i s trema slepymi cestami meri 200 km a je mozno to projeti jen s pujcenym autem nebo draze autem i s ridicem. Zadna organizovana tura ani liniovy bus to nejedou.
Co je k videni na Tahiti : severovychodni pobrezi : Na 5. km vychodne od PPT je mohyla krale Pomare. Na 10. km vychodne od PPT je majak Pointe Venus v zatoce Matavai , odkud je videt nejvyssi hora Tahiti - Mount Orohena 2241m. Na 22. km zaparkuj auto a jdi 5 minut ke trem vodopadum Faarumai na rece Vaipuu. Nejvyssi je kaskada Vaimahuta. Na 22. km jsou take u silnice gejziry Trou du Souffleur , ktere dela priboj pumpujici vodu do diry. Mila ticha paradiska obec Tautira je na konci slepe cesty 73 km od Papeete na severovychodnim pobrezi Tahiti iti.
Jihozapadni pobrezi : Na 5. km zapadne od PPT je letiste Faaa , kde je mozno pujciti auto , asi kdyz se vcera rezervovalo , ocekavajice slunny den. Na 10 km zapadne od PPT je Lagonarium , kde velke ryby a zraloci pozoruji navstevniky okny pod vodou. Vstup je asi 5 euro. Na 22. km je posvatne misto marae Arahurahu. Na 48. km v obci Mataiea zacina 10 km dlouha cesta pro dzipy , kone a vandrovani k jezeru Lac Vaihiria. Je to 473 m nad morem , 22 km hluboke a 16 az 22 ha velke. Dzip muze prejeti pres kopce a dosahnouti severni pobrezi v Papenoo. Od Mataiea na Papenoo je 35 km. Je mozno projeti to s organizovanou turou dzipem , tak se clovek neztrati , ani neuvazne v prejizdene rece a muze to byt 4x levnejsi nez si vypujciti dzip. Mozno tez parkovati nizke auto na pobrezi v Mataiea a jiti 10 km k jezeru 3 hodiny pesky a 3 hodiny zpet. Na 52. km je muzeum Paul Gauguin , vstupne 5 euro a taky botanicka zahrada Tahiti v Papeari. Ale cele Tahiti je ta nejlepsi botanicka zahrada , kterou kdy kde uvidime. Podivana s hudbou , pisnemi a tanci muze byti v hotelech.
Na ostrov Moorea jedou 17 km lodi kazdou hodinu a stoji asi 7 euro. Nekteri lide leti tech 17 km s letadlem od Air Moorea. Na Bora Bora 250 km pluji lodi 5x tydne , jedou 16 hodin , stoji asi 15 euro a stavi na Huahine , Raiatea , Tahaa a Bora Bora. Jiny clun pluje z Bora Bora na krasny ostrov Maupiti. Zadna lod nepluje 180 km okolo ostrova Tahiti , ale nekdo v Tautira by nas mohl vziti clunem nekolik km smerem na Teahupoo. Od Tautira je 30 km na Teahupo. Ale je mozno jiti pesky jen 12 km jizne od Tautira a zpet. Nebo 9 km vychodne od Teahupoo a zpet. Tech zbyvajicich 9 km nevede zadna pesina.
